Class Information

Currently, Freestylemotions is running a weekly Freestyle TRX class at the YMCA of Greater Westfield. Membership fees for the YMCA can be found here, HERE.

Freestyle TRX classes:

Classes are on Tuesday from 7:15 pm to 8:00 pm

Currently Free for YMCA of Greater Westfield Members.

Hang out with the best new workout sweeping the nation. TRX, Total Body Resistance Exercise, (Suspension Training), leverages gravity and your bodyweight to perform hundreds of exercises. You’re in control of how much you want to challenge yourself on each exercise – because you can simply adjust your body position to add or decrease resistance.

Freestyle TRX combines TRX with Circuit Training. We utilize the entire body to build strength, coordination, and balance. For more difficult exercises, we progressively build our skills, to achieve that Atomic Pushup. The additional use of Medicine Balls, Free Weights, and Striking Pads enhances our evening. This is a great workout for the beginner to the advanced athlete.

Class size is limited to 6 and located in the Functional Training Room, aka Studio 1.


Family Sword Fit is a unique fitness class where you will slice, cut, and parry your way to a better you. Utilizing a variety of sword styles we will build our techniques, form, control, and strategies, all while getting fit. Two-Handed, Single-Handed, Dual Wielding, Light Calesthenics, Stretching, and Movement Repetition, will be utilized. Fun for children, teenagers, young adults, parents, or even grand parents.  Spend your family time with Family Sword Fit.

Currently Free for YMCA of Greater Westfield Members.

Days/Time: Fridays, 6:30PM – 7:30PM
Family of 4 or less: Children must be age 8 & up.
*Must have a Westfield YMCA Family Membership*

There will be Light Dueling ONLY within Family groups.

Sword Play Classes (Classes Currently on hold)

Class size is limited to 12. Ages 6 to 13. On Thursdays from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, in the Mini Gym.

$15 for YMCA members • $30 for Non-members

Unique, Fun, Sweat-Enducing, and Safe… Sword Play will take you on a journey through various sword styles, such as, Fencing, German Longsword, and Asian sword arts. We train with high quality padded swords. Class will consist of warm-up and sword lessons, sword games, and creative imaginations. Unplug from video games, tv, mobile device, computers, and Let’s Sword Play.

Freestyle Fitness classes: (Classes Currently on hold)

Freestyle Fitness incorporates martial arts, cardio, calisthenics, & flexibility. We train together to build our mind, body, & knowledge. Medicine balls, weighted exercise poles, Free weights, Chairs & more are utilized during class.  Self Defense and Fighting Strategies flows seamlessly into our exercises.  End the evening with a little stress relief,  by taking-it-out on our striking pad. Enjoy a full body workout, progressively increase your skills & choose your adventure. No experience needed.

Breakdancing Workshops: (Classes Currently on hold)
The 4th Friday of every month from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
$5 for members of the Y
$10 for non-members

Beginners, learn the foundation of Breakdancing; Top Rock, Floor Rock, Freeze, & Style.  We’ll also try some transitions and power moves.
Advanced BBoys, enjoy the open floor for practice and ciphers.

Class uniform consists of comfortable clothing, such as:
– T-shirt or Sweatshirt
– Sweatpants
– Windpants
– Gi pants
– Knee Length Shorts
– Indoor/Non-Marking Shoes or Barefoot
– Women are recommended to wear a Sports Bra

– No jewelry should be worn during training, only exceptions would be wedding bands
– Finger and Toenails should be kept short
– Long hair should be tied back
